I have suffered from horrible anxiety for most of my life. When I was 25 years old, I had a job with health insurance. I saw a therapist for the first time in my life. She diagnosed me with generalized anxiety disorder. It can be difficult to focus when I have anxiety. When I was 30 years old, the generalized anxiety disorder got much worse and I lost my job. The therapist recommended using medical cannabis to help with the anxiety. Medical cannabis has been legalized in the state for several years and I know several people that use the plant for its medicinal and healing properties. I wasn’t sure that I wanted to be one of those people. A couple of months ago, my dad died and I was very depressed. Between the depression and anxiety, I was ready to check myself into a mental hospital. I saw the therapist and she mentioned medical cannabis once again. I agreed that it wouldn’t hurt to try using cannabis. She helped me fill out the necessary paperwork to get a medical marijuana card. After I was legal, I went to a cannabis dispensary. I didn’t know what to expect, but everyone was very helpful and kind. They didn’t treat me like a drug addict. They were happy to explain what strains might help my anxiety and they really knew a lot about the plant. It’s been sixty days since I started using cannabis and I really notice some serious changes. I still feel anxiety daily, but cannabis helps me control it better. I’m generally more calm and relaxed and I really like that.
